Raw clay vase

I really enjoyed messing around with adding different clays into the throwing process for a while there. You begin centring your clay (this one enriched with buff raku trachyte that reveals iron specks in firing) and then after you've done your first 'pull' you carve out some of that clay and insert others of all sorts of colours, in this case including fine streaks of porcelain and dark matter. Finishing the throw is tricky with clays of varying textures! It's in the trimming that the textures are revealed.
This vase features an oribe (dark green) internal glaze and can hold water.
9cm wide, 22cm tall.
